Helpful Hints for a successful session with kids -

My goal is to capture your family in a fun and enjoyable way. Children tend to respond with natural smiles when they are having fun! If parents are happy and excited for photos, it helps children feel the same way.

Scheduling during normal nap or meal times is not advised so please contact us right away to request a different time slot if this could be a problem.

Sometimes young kids have a hard time with posed/smile at the camera type of shots - If this is your kid(s) we can take the pressure off and focus on candid images. Documenting "real life" photos are often family favorites!

Imagine we are taking photos at ALL times during your session because the in between moments are often great shots. Simple things like smoothing your child's hair or helping them button their coat can be among the most beautiful when done tenderly. Keep in mind that your facial expressions are often the key component to those moments.

Speaking of parents expressions - For posed photos I tend to act silly to get kids to smile. Parents often react (forgetting they are also in the photo) by making a silly face or looking to see how their kids are reacting. Do you best to keep smiling at me while I work on getting everyone else to do the same!

I love to give direction but it can totally be up to you to make it your own! When I say snuggle up on each other it can be gentle and loving or a laughing/candid big group hug. You know your children best and what type of activities will bring out genuine happiness or calming snuggles.

If kids walk in with a blankie, tablet, food or toy that you do NOT want in the photos, we usually have a really hard time taking something away and still having a happy kiddo! Leaving those items at home or at least in the car is ideal! Having something to offer them that you WILL be OK with in the photos is great, especially in the event of a toddler meltdown!

Things you can bring with you -

A timeless toy or book that will keep your child happy (Christmas book, wooden train, stuffed animal, cute puzzle - not big, plastic or brightly colored toy that you wouldn't want in photos)

A gift or wrapped present that your child can open towards the end of the session. It usually makes for a series of happy candid photos!

Summary -

Please arrive 5 minutes early to avoid any delays in the start of your session. Sessions are scheduled back-to-back so we will not be able to give extra time if you are running late.
Please wait in your car until your directed to come in. Do your best to arrive ready so there is no delay in the start to your session. We will be VERY close by your car so if possible, please leave things like bags, wallets, phones and sunglasses in the car.
Please only bring a pet if you are confident can cooperate for photos. They must be on a leash and in control at all times. If possible, bring an extra person to handle your pet when they are not in the photos.
Sessions are scheduled 20 minutes apart with shooting time being about 15 minutes. We include 5 digital files of your choice. Additional images are available for $30 each, 5 for $100, 10 for $200 and the entire gallery download is available for $300.
